Plains Game Hunting

Waterberg Wilderness Safaris offers exceptional plains game hunting over the many private game reserves that we hunt, and on our own reserves. The following species we hunt:

Southern Greater Kudu, Eland, Nyala, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Blesbuck, Bushbuck (Limpopo), Burchell’s Zebra, Red Hartebeest, Tsessebe, Mountain Reedbuck, Sable Antelope, Waterbuck, Duiker, Klipspringer, Gemsbuck, Warthog, Bushpig.

The Waterberg has a tremendous diverse habitat and thus sustains several different biomes. High rocky ridges, deep riverine, thick bush, open savannah bushveld, both broad-leafed and acacia veld. In the north there is deep sandveld.

The Waterberg is known specifically for its very big Greater Kudu, both in body size and horn length. Over the past few years several kudu bulls have been taken over the magic 60” mark.

Hunting is conducted on foot and no animal is hunted within sight or sound of vehicles. Vehicles are used to get in and out of an area though. Often the hunt is started by glassing the deep valleys, and then the hunt will commence when the quarry is located. We emphasize the challenge and experience of the hunt.
